Don't you love a long weekend. Here I sit, surrounded by laundry baskets that seem to be breeding...or rather, it's the fact that I changed everyones' bed linen...surrounded by mess. The pumpkin I was going to chop up for lunch sits forlorn in the fridge...
We've had a lazy day. But I've sorted through Bon's wardrobe. That's an achievement. Are the school uniforms ironed for tomorrow? No. Is that library book finished yet? No. Have I had a shower yet althought it's well into the afternoon? No. Have I had a good day? YES! I played soccer with the kids as I hung out the laundry. I got some cuddles as we watched Power Rangers. I've had some yummy cups of coffee. D cooked us all bacon & eggs for breakfast! I slept in until 8:30am when I stomped up grumpy that the kids were kicking on the walls of Eric's room as they tickled each other in bed, making up jokes together & then donning sunglasses pointing kazoos at us as they pretended to be musical spies...what an amazing life we have. So much love going around here. We are surviving all this illness & all these hard days of winter & cold joints & weird test results etc. We have a house to live in, we have our family, we have work, we have warm clothes, we have people who we call friends & who love us...we are blessed beyond our comprehension...
I love this "extra day" of the weekend to reflect on life. God has been so very good to us all things considered...& I don't say that lightly...
Some friends in the USA have this AMAZING reading nook, & this is where I want to crawl up into now with all my library books, with a cuppa & some more banana cake - ahem - & read read read...
